Returning from what felt like a never-ending artist block and landing at a subtle, safe and still place that has been ground for vulnerability and expression within my painting process at The Artists’ Press. Thank you Mark, Tamar, Simon and the printing team for being delicate and a home for me during the course.

In the early autumn of 2023 Khoza retreated to the gentle hills of Mpumalanga for residency at The Artists’ Press. What was supposed to be a week long stay was doubled as Khoza found himself safe, inspired and guided by his surroundings. The resulting body of work reflects both the natural beauty of the area as well as Khoza’s classic reflective, observational style — a time capsule of two weeks in Mpumalanga.
